Bhutan
Bhutan is a small country nestled in the Eastern Himalayas called the “Land of the Thundering Dragon" It is the only official Buddhist Kingdom. Buddhism has been the predominate religion since the 7th century.
Bhutan was closed to Christianity until 1965. As the number of believers increased, so did the government concerns and restrictions. In 2000, the government began a campaign against the Christians, which included banning Christianity. Tourism is popular but extremely expensive.
OTAN is assisting national believers as they seek to reach out in this difficult nation.
