Laos is a Communist State bordered to the west by Thailand and to the east by Vietnam. This predominately Buddhist Country has a population of 6.8 million people with over 30% living below the poverty level. On most lists of nations involved in persecuting Christians, Laos appears in the top ten. Laos is also on the USCIRF (United States Commission on International Religious Freedom) “watch list”. Christians are perceived as enemies of the state. Thus day-to-day living is a challenge. It is difficult to assist national believers and churches under these circumstances but Outreach To Asia Nationals is providing short-term training and assistance to the churches.
